Ten Days Braille Transcription Course & Urdu Braille Conference on the Occasion of World Braille Day
ALHAMDULILLAH as previous years, to grace the celebration of anniversary of the Great Louis Braille and to observe the Braille day a comprehensive program comprising of 8 days Braille Transcription course on English and Urdu Braille for the universities Graduates of the department of the Special education university of Karachi together with the teachers of different institutions run by the GO’s and NGO’s was arrange which was followed by the whole day conference on Urdu Braille revision largely participated by the representative from the educational institutions for the blind. Department of Special Education and Braille publishers like National Federation of the Blind, National Book Foundation, Pakistan Disabled Foundation, Blind Resource Foundation Pakistan together with Department of Special Education Government of Sindh. Amongst other representative of the Secretary Social Welfare Sindh Mr. Abdul Hameed Shiekh, Mr. Ghulam Ali Regional Director Special Education Sind, Madam Arifa Shamsa Eminent Social Worker, Dr. Farzana Suleman PECHS college, Dr. Saira Saleem Special Education Department university of Karachi and others grace the occasion as the Honored Guest.
The Conference considers the importance of the revision of Urdu Braille significantly and decided to proposed appointment of broad base Urdu Braille revision committee with the inclusion of representative and experts from other leading institution in the field concerned from different parts of the country.
Finally on 4th January the Braille day which was largely participated by the recipients of the certificates of the course, the winners of the national Essay competition on Seerat including from Quetta and battagram, honored guest like eminent social worker and orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Mudassir the first international cricket Empire from Asia Mr. Mehboob Shah director special education Madam Kishwer Siddiqui, eminent Scholar Mehmood Khan, Prof. Mazhar-Ul-Haq Ex-Principal Islamia College, Prof. Khalid Memon, Syed Shahadat Ali, Mr. Ghulam Dastagir President PAB grace the occasion by expressing there views Mr. Memon Chairman PDF and his introductory and welcome address highlighted the invention and life of the great Louis Braille and importance of the Braille day.
A resolution comprising of appreciation and thanks to the UN general Assembly and determination of PDF to continue its efforts for the promotion of Braille subject and production in Braille by all means together with the advocacy role to introduce the Braille day effectively and meaningfully .
