After arrival in Islamabad on 19th evening of February Mr. Memon Chairman PDF had a detailed meeting with the Director Operation of NADRA, Mr. Kashif covering all the related aspects of the burning issue of categorical indication of disability on the Special CNIC for people with disability which was followed by a meeting with the General Manager of Ignite Dr. Zain-Ul-Abideen to discuss the related issues regarding Urdu Talking software for visually impaired in the light of the prevailing situation of urgency of the said software and slow process towards the development of Urdu talking software.
On the same day Mr. Memon had a fruitful meeting with the Rector Prof. Dr. Tabussum Afzal, Executive Director Mr. Tahir Naeem, and prof. Dr. Akber Gardaizi of Consats University Islamabad, in connection with possibility of the arrangement of National Conference in said University to observe the Silver Jubilee program of Pakistan Disabled Foundation (PDF) (expected in the month of June). As a matter of principle it was agreed to process the matter in the light of the prevailing possibilities which will be the base of follow up efforts in the matter. On same evening Mr. Memon had a meeting with local blind fellow
On Tuesday 21st February Mr. Memon attended the Conference under title “International CSR Award 2023” at Serena Hotel Islamabad organized by National Forum on Environmental Health. Among other dignitaries the Federal Minister for planning and Development appreciated the efforts of the National forum and award receiving companies and stake holders in his capacity as the Chief Guest of the Occasion. The conference was dominantly attended by different companies, banks and GO’s working on the subject in different dimension including relief to the flood effected families on a large scale. Number of above said components received encouraging award among other Pakistan Disabled Foundation was also awarded complimentary award especially in the light of the country wide regular services and recently flood effected families of disabled persons.
The seminar was followed by press briefing with the media representatives including office bearers of Islamabad press club in National press club of Islamabad. Among other senior journalist the secretary Mr. Raiz and others have paid serious attention to the presentation of Chairman PDF Mr. Shahid Memon with keen interest and practical registration of the issues described in the submitted memorandum. In the evening again Mr. Memon had a meeting with senior blind fellow.
On 22 morning chairman PDF had a meeting with the MD of National Book Foundation Raja and others to discuss the readily hammering issues towards the smooth and functioning of the National Braille press under National Book Foundation, and to discuss the improving and progressive measures to make the Braille press for the blind community as per approved scheme and determined goals which need immediate attention. After that in the Head quarter of FBR Mr. Memon had a meeting with Mr. Tauseef Goarchani Sec. Customs Budget FBR Department regarding the already approved duty free mobile for the visually impaired and SRO regarding the duty free exemption of Perkins Brailler, the Braille type writer for the blind.
Finally he had a meeting with a blind representative from Azad Kashmir need to discuss the requirements and problems of the visually impaired in Azad Kashmir.
