 A one day national conference on problems and performance of disabled community organized by Pakistan Disabled Foundation in kielman hall, Health Services Academy Islamabad on 2nd July 2024 at 2 Pm sharp.

The inaugural ceremony started from the recitation of Holy Quran and naat-e- rasool presided by retired lieutenant general Asif Mumtaz Sukhira Vice Chancellor Muhiuddin Islamic University Islamabad.

The chairman Pakistan Disabled Foundation Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon present the keynote address and unfold the purpose of this national event. After that, the chief guest registrar Health Services Academy Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan representative of Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Disabled Foundation and admired the participation of persons with disabilities from all over Pakistan and categorically offered his willingness and support to the cause of PWD’s and services of PDF and assured continues support of Health Services Academy in days to come. After that, the souvenirs as a token of thanks were presented to Director ORIC Mr. Zubair and Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan.

At the end of the inaugural ceremony, retired lieutenant general Asif Mumtaz Sukhira Vice Chancellor Muhiuddin Islamic University Islamabad expressed his valuable views and announced the medical help and vaccination to pregnant disabled women especially in remote areas at their door step.

 

After the inaugural ceremony business session on problems and performance of disabled community was started and different guest speakers shared their knowledgeable presentations with the participants.

Mr. Amir Sami CEO TecNext enlightened the role of IT and different software for pwds.

Mr. Waqar Younus president of BRFP highlight the role of braille in Madarsas and discussed the intentions of BRFP that they will transcribe the whole syllabus of daras-e- nizami in Braille in future. Furthermore, Mr. Umar Farooq from Bolty Huroof demonstrated Urdu braille translator in detail. Mr. Shabber Aiwan from National Defense University Islamabad joined the conference online and focused on accessibility issues and benefits of E-Banking services for visually impaired.

Moreover, Dr. Badar Sami from University of Karachi explained the opportunities and challenges for PWD’s in the artificial intelligence era and provide deep knowledge regarding AI softwares and applications and emphasized that an appropriate usage of AI can change the world of PWD’s. Participants had taken   keen interest during his presentation.

Dr. Saira Saleem from University of Karachi discussed the problems and performance of PWD’s in the light of present circumstances and she opined that the usage, provision, training and practice of E-learning platforms in regular classrooms can leads to more inclusion of PWD’s as well as frosting their educational experiences.

Mr. Munnan ex director Special education from Islamabad highlighted the role of PWD’s in their own development.

Mr. Shahzad Javed from Pakistan blind sport federation Islamabad discussed the importance of sports activities for PWD’s and achievements of —— blind women team of Pakistan.

At the end vice chairperson Ms. Shakeela Yasmeen gave concluding remarks followed by the Hi-tea.

 

 

Two Days National Training workshop on

Information technology for Visually impaired

3rd and 4th July

Comsats University Islamabad

 

The inaugural ceremony of IT workshop was held on 3rd July 2024 in Comsats University Islamabad at 9 Am started from the recitation of Holy Quran and naat-e- rasool.

The chairman Pakistan Disabled Foundation Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon present the keynote address and unfold the purpose of this national IT training. After that, Dr. Tahir Naeem greet and welcomed to the participants of the workshop.

Later on, the introduction of the instructors Mr. Shakeel from Karachi, Mr. Kamal Yousuf from Peshawar and Ahmed Kareem from Faisalabad to the participants.

The workshop was attended by the 28 nominated trainees from all over Pakistan.

Training of JAWS, Type Ability, NVDA with Urdu, (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Smart phone with Talkback and iPhone with voice over and Google map and different applications on smartphones and iPhone were provided to the participants.

The trainees were very energetic throughout the workshop. Pose many questions and got enough knowledge on the subject and they hope from PDF to arrange similar workshops/training in future.

 

In the closing ceremony Dr. Tahir Naeem provided summarization of set workshop and gave remarkable feedback on every aspect of the training. Moreover, He emphasized that this activity is a constructive step towards the betterment of the individual with disabilities in this digital era.

Afterwards, chairman Pakistan Disabled Foundation Mr. Shahid Ahmed Memon expressed the gratitude to the hosts for their hospitality especially dr. Tahir Naeem and Dr. Akbar Gardezi for their marvelous contribution and continues support to conduct this training as always, the incredible facilitation from the volunteers and overwhelming attitude from the administration of University and continuous support to uplifting such type of activities/trainings for PWD’s at Comsat university Islamabad and conclude the session with vote of thanks to the participants, representatives, volunteers and the administration of Comsats University.

At the end certificates were presented to the participants, instructors and management of PDF from the Comsats University.
