There were 14 participants including blind/low vision who were attached with the schools and organizations working for the visually impaired persons from all over the country including Gilgit and Azad Kashmir. The course was conducted by Mr. Rafi Memon and assisted by Ms. Faiza Riaz.
Nature of the Course
Perking Brailler Repairing Course consists of two major stages “Basic and Advance”. This course was the first stage i.e. basic repair and maintenance of Perkins Brailler. The course was designed to provide first-hand information / knowledge about Braille, Brailler and its minor repair and maintenance.
Course Content
The course was divided into four stages.
Final check and reassembling of the Brailler.
Practice, Review and Test
Participant’s views and suggestions were gathered on printed Performa regarding the course.
Methodology/Presentation
The course was conducted through verbal / lectures and practical demonstration. To execute comprehensively and for better understanding, multimedia presentations and print material were used. Reviews were conducted after completion of each stage and participants were encouraged to practice and demonstrate what they had learnt. Tools, parts and equipment were demonstrated and used to have better understanding.
At the end oral, written and practical tests were conducted. Blind candidates were provided writer to appear in the written test.
Material Provided
Multimedia, written material, real objects (parts, tools and equipment) and verbal commands were used to conduct the course.
Organization / arrangements of the Course
Over all arrangements were satisfactory due weightage given from the organizer i.e. Pakistan Disabled Foundation. Holding of opening and closing ceremonies, visit of dignitaries, nation-wide participation, arrangements and timely provision of course material, tools and certification to the successful participants, canvas this course as professionally designed event.
