ALHAMDULILLAH on 4th January 2021 a comprehensive program comprised of 3 sessions was organized to observe the Birth Anniversary of Louise Day (World Braille Day). The Inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Bader Sami of Computer Science Department Karachi University as the Chief Guest while Chairman Pakistan Disabled Foundation Presided over the ceremony. The first business session on Braille quiz covering all the components and aspects of the subject was conducted by Prof. Shakila Yasmin as the Chief Coordinator and Prof. Azra Ather served the session as the quiz Master and facilitator. Dr. Farzana Suleiman and Madam Asma Mehboob were the judges of the quiz. Mrs. Syeda Seema served as the scorer and resource person of the program. Amongst others Mr. Syed Shahdat Ali, Prof. Safder Najmi, Prof. Urooj Fatima and prof. Suria Usmani express their views on quiz competition and meaningful feedback the youth participants. Dr. Bader Sami in his concluding remarks as the Chief Guest described the quality of the quiz competition and keen interest of the quiz organizers. He also highly appreciated the preparation of the participants of the quiz competition.
The second session was graced by Prof. Dr. Ishaq Mansori eminent Schooler and educationalist as the Chief Guest. The session was addressed by the expert of the field like Prof. Jawaid Jafri, Prof. Azra Ather, Mr. Waqar Younus, Dr. Saira Saleem, and Dr. Farzana Suleman on the various issues regarding invention of Braille Writing system, Braille Transcription, Braille Printing including other related matters. In his presidential speech Chairman PDF highlighted and the categorical efforts and steps of Pakistan Disabled Foundation covering by covering all the issues raised by the speakers during the seminar. The Chief Guest Prof. Ishaq Mansori appreciated the efforts of the PDF and also admired the qualities and capabilities of the disabled community as a whole and young generation especially participating youth. On this occasion he also recite his own written poem “sufaid charhi also gifted the four volume of his book on Quran learning system for beginners.
The third and concluding session comprised of distribution of shields on life time achievements to Janab Abdul Razzaq Siddiqui the prominent social worker ex-Vice Chairman and patron of Pakistan Disabled Person and Mrs. Azra Ather a brilliant Braille list and hardworking voluntary social worker in the field of disability, for their life time devoted and dedicated contribution knowledgeably and bravely. On this occasion the winners of the Braille quiz competition and winners of the Seerat quiz and Naat Khwani Competition were also awarded prizes. The delegation of PAB National was given the token gift of Holy Quran in Braille printed under the Pakistan Disabled Foundation as the gesture of good will. The concluding session was followed by lunch.
Note: The three resolutions regarding the burning issues like recruitment on long standing vacant post of Braille Instructors, Uniformity in the rules and signs of Braille Writing System under the authority and supervision of Federal Government and legal issues regarding employment quota and other wise at the parliament of Pakistan in recent weeks.
