A delegation comprising of Chairman and Vice Chairperson Shahid Ahmed Memon and Shakila Yasmin together with their Assistant visited Islamabad from 31 may 2021 to 4th June 2021. On 1st June delegation had a visit to national skills university the venue of the above said conference, followed by meeting with Dr. Mukhtar VC of the university along with his staff regarding all the arrangements within the auditorium and otherwise. In the afternoon the delegation had a very fruitful meeting with Member international coordinator Ministry of information technology Mr. Ajmal Anwer Awan , on the 2nd June delegation had an organization meeting with the focal person Mr. Abdul Manan ex director special education and head of the cholistan disabled foundation which was followed by meeting with the Dr. Akber Gardezi of Comsats university on the theme of national conference and collaboration of the concern department of Comsats university. Meanwhile Delegation kept contact with the concern departments like FBR, Finance ministry, PTA, officers of the National Press club and assistant of the Prime Minister Waqar Masood to motivate and advocate regarding the request of duty free mobile phone for the visually impaired. On 3rd June 2021 there was a national conference participated by the experts of the field from different leading institution like Karachi university and comsats university, the blind experts from all 4th provinces Islamabad AJK and Sharjah the conference was inaugurated by the representative of ministry of information technology Mr. Ajmal Anwer Awan Member IC while Dr. Mukhtar the VC national Skills university presided over the inaugural ceremony.
While Dr. Akber gardezi presented the key note address the chairman PDF Mr. Memon by introducing the subject emphasis upon the government to approved and announce the duty free talking mobile phone for the blind in the fourth coming national budget. MS shakila Yasmin vice Chairperson PDF explain the detail program of the conference together with thanks to the participants, the first business session of the conference under title : Duty Free Talking Mobile phone for visually impaired Users was presided over by the Dr. Mukhtar while Dr. Badar Sami from the department of computer science Karachi university serve the session as the resource person amongst other Mr. Ahmed Karim started the expression and demo as a blind expert on the field from Sharjah, while Shahid Zafar another expert blind given demo on different options used through the mobile phone by the blind Mr. Shahbaz from faisalabad , Mr. Mohsen from quetta Baluchistan and Mr. Esa from KPK exercised their expertise through demo. Which was amongst other highly appreciated by Mr. Ajmal Awan , Dr. Mukhtar ,Dr. Badar Sami , Dr. Akber Gardezi and Mr. Khalid Noman Director PTA representative Chairman PTA highly impressed and appreciated the competency and quality of the blind user’s and assured their support as an when deemed necessary. The second session titled “Urdu Talking Software” was presided over by Mr. Yasir on behalf of CEO of IGNITE while from Hango Kpk Mr. Kamal Yousuf a blind expert and user of the service express his views about the importance of the Urdu talking software and hopeless situation of the “The NAGHMA software presented by Dr. Samad university of Engineering and Technology Lahore” after a long duration of more than six years and involvement of heavy amount. He also talked upon different issues relating to Urdu Talking Software like NVDA and Google’s efforts supporting Urdu talking software.
