Brief Report of the activities of Pakistan Disabled Foundation
2016-2017
With all the kindness of Al-Mighty Allah and valuable cooperation of the well wishers like your good self , Al-Hamdullilah Pakistan Disabled Foundation (PDF), A part from its regular country wide services and programs including full time skills Training Academy for the Disabled Children and Women where all the Training Facilities including raw material, equipment, pick/ drop and entertainment are provided totally free of cost, the PDF this year again started its noble services from the Holy month of Ramadan by arranging Rashan, clothing and cash support to approximately 480 families covering more then 2775 family members from different part of the country, in addition to month wise eighty ration regularly to the deserving families costing more than two million rupees yearly.
PDF has been actively engaged through out the year by providing and arranging advocacy, training and educational courses along with rehabilitation and integrated programs including specialize skills and other wise to promote the awareness and knowledge towards the achievement of determined goal of socio economic status for the disabled community as obvious from our website www.pdf.org.pk and following description on various program through out the year.
Al-Hamdolillah the printing and distribution of Holy Quran in Braille is increasingly continued during the current year also. In this regard Ummah welfare trust has been also donated by PDF for the program of Braille Quran printing.
Annual program of Istaqbal-e-Ramazan, Yomay and Shuhda-e-Badr to high light the religious and moral values as guide lines to avail the spiritual and other wise benefit of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak were also held to largely participate.
As previous again this year the PDF administration has been regularly engaged by launching advocacy campaign in different field like information technology and communication for PWD’s, facilitation and simplification of procedural rules and regulation with the Ministry of commerce, planning, Higher Education Commission and FBR, Human Rights, including senses authority of Pakistan together with ministry of youth Affairs to remove the obstacles, misinterpretation with all the relevant Go’s regarding the admissive facilities and privileges in connection with rehabilitation, education and training as a whole.
Foundation continued to promote services by arranging the financial support for self employment including disabled women for domestic business , educational Scholarships, Teaching and daily living Aids like Braille writing Slates, erythematic slates, Perkins Brailler, Hearing Aids, white canes, wheal chairs, self threading needles, and thermometer, Braille and talking watches, try cycles B.P operators , Gluco Meter and etc, to more then 3000 beneficiary all over the country both individually and collectively including GO’s. .
Again this year, the foundation has supported in cash and kind for 19 Weddings Ceremony of deserving Disabled persons and their children from different part of the country.
The following organization and institutions working for the disabled persons were provided support in cash and kind upon their request to strengthen and promote their services.,Ummah Welfare Trust, National Special Education Centre Muzafarabad, AKAB Mirpur , Al-Faisal Markaz Faisalabad, Pakistan Alliance of the Blind Faisalabad, PAB Bahawalpur, PDF Malakand, All Disabled Organization Kohlu Baluchistan, Mazoor Welfare Association of the Blind Jacobabad, Thull Disability forum Jacobabad, Disabled Right Development Jacobabad, PAB Noshero Feroz, Ghotki Disability Forum, Association of special person District Badin, Pakistan Eye Bank Society Dera Ghazi Khan, All Special Persons Welfare Association Khairpur, PAB Nawabshah, PAB Shikarpur, Sindh Disabled Welfare Organization Khairpur, Hyderabad Welfare Association of the Blind, Hyat Disabled Welfare Association Hangu, PAB Batagram, PAB Mansehra, PAB Sawabi, Blind PAB Mansehra, Light House School for the Blind Girls Abottabad, PAB Karachi District and Karachi Blind Association Karachi special persons association.
To remove the ill approaches and misunderstandings on one hand and to create better understandings about the capabilities,, potentialities and to highlight the requirements and issues of the disabled persons, The following programs were organized on different occasions like Seerat-un-NABI (P.B.U.H) White Cane Safety Day the International Day of the Blind, International Day of the Disabled Persons, Independence Day of Pakistan, Yomay Pakistan, observance of New Muslim year.
In followance of first national conference of IT by PDF in 2015-16, several meetings have been arranged by Pakistan Disabled Foundation with the representatives of ICT R&D FUND, the consumer of the services that is disabled community and of course with the research departments of IT in different universities at Karachi and other wise regarding the development of software together with wide ranged review meeting in Islamabad on the occasion of International day of Disabled Persons.
With the matching support and patronization of youth ministry of sindh a Two Days all Sindh disabled youth seminar for both male and female from rural and urban areas was organized on the occasion of Pakistan Day on 22nd and 23rd march 2017 in Ghotki which was grace by Sardar muhammard bux mehar the minister of sports and culture sindh as the Chief Guest on behalf of Chief Minister of Sindh. A part from that the disabled youth, their senior leaders as representative the experts of the field both from Karachi and interior of sindh, other dignitaries and deputy director of social welfare Ghotki graced the occasion.
Again this year the representatives and leaders of the PDF continued their participation and sharing of views/expertise in different activities organized by sister’s agencies through out the country.
It should be encouraging to note that PDF, to facilitate the job assignment of student of special education and special educators, has provided global digital library for PWD’s (covering all international related knowledge and information comprising of million of Pages ) to the resource learning library of Karachi university in the current year.
Keeping in view the active and practical role of PDF it was desired to start centre of inclusive education in less develop area of Korangi based on religious and modern line education with computer literacy and home management has been started on the experimental bases.
Al-Hamdullilah by the grace of Al-mighty Allah who provided us and our well wishers like your good selves, enough carriage and capacity to do our job towards the achievements of above mentioned progress to get the disabled community uplifted as per required standard both nationally and internationally to make them independent and productive enough to play their role in the society equally.
