Brief Report Activities of 2017-2018
ALHAMDULILLAH, Pakistan Disabled Foundation (PDF) a collective voice of cross disability, run by the disabled themselves and realizing the first hand knowledge about problems and requirement, In the light of rights and privileges of the disabled community towards the achievement of socio-economic status with maximum possible opportunities to get them introduce in the society as an independent and equally contributing component of the society by providing most modern training, education, techniques/skills together with technology. A part from the provision to the un-skilled component and relief services in different walks together with all the advocacy and awareness program, courses and support to sisters agencies to get the disabled community as a whole mobilize and activated to stand on its own feed in-spite of physical lacking, social bearers an bureaucratic attitude. if you considered all the stated efforts and given below detail is justified then please come forward with reasonable interest and help us out by contributing financial and otherwise share.
It is particularly notable that a part from PDF skills training Academy where all the requirements including training, equipment, raw material, uniform and pick and drop to the disabled children and women are provided cent percent free of cost, PDF is not only providing but arranging the supply of equipment like talking calculator, talking thermometer, talking watches, talking BP Apparatus, talking gluco-meter, Braille writing slate and frame, Arithmetic slate, peg board, types, pegs, stylus, white canes, wheel chairs, Tri-Cycles, hearing aids, self threading needle, Perkin Brailler, Cricket Balls for Blind Person, tactile inch tape, swing machines, including Laptop to Hangu and Kohlu organization etc mostly free of cost or subsidize rate not only to the individuals but to the NGO’s and GO’s regularly contacting PDF all together1925
The PDF this year again started its noble services from the Holy month of Ramadan by arranging Rashan, clothing and cash support to approximately 480 families covering more then 2775 family members from different part of the country, in addition to that, month wise eighty ration amounting 2.5 millions yearly regularly to the deserving families
PDF has been actively engaged through out the year by providing and arranging advocacy, training and educational courses along with rehabilitation and integrated programs including specialize skills and other wise like sign language, speech therapy and brailing to promote the awareness and knowledge towards the achievement of determined goal of socio economic status for the disabled community as obvious in detail from our website www.pdf.org.pk more over following expression on various program through out the year like second national conference on information technology to grace the two decades observance of Pakistan Disabled Foundation and white cane Safety Day international day of the Blind at Islamabad amongst others the acting speaker of national assembly the CEO of ignite from ministry of information technology and representative of different universities dealing with the technology for the disabled persons and disabled youth having higher education. The Braille transcription course at Karachi participated by university graduate from department of special education university of Karachi together with the blind participants, and Two days all Sindh disabled youth seminar in district Badin largely participated by the disabled youth under the capacity building and some other programs like national competition of essay writing on Seerat un Nabi (P.B.U.H.) and Allama Iqbal under the national team of experts as Judges together with special program to grace the International Day Disabled Person on 3rd of December grace by the Neuro Surgeon Dr. Wasay Shakir and other dignities.
ALHAMDULILLAH the printing and distribution of Holy Quran in Braille is increasingly continued during the current year also.
Annual program of Istaqbal-e-Ramazan, Yomay and Shuhada-e-Badr to high light the religious and moral values as guide lines to avail the spiritual and other wise benefit of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak were also held which was largely participate by the disabled themselves.
Again this year, the foundation has supported in cash and kind for 18 Weddings Ceremony of deserving Disabled persons and their children from different part of the country.
The following organization and institutions working for the disabled persons were provided support in cash and kind upon their request to strengthen and promote their services, Ummah Welfare Trust, National Special Education Centre Muzafarabad, AKAB Mirpur, Al-Faisal Markaz Faisalabad, Pakistan Alliance of the Blind Faisalabad, PAB Bahawalpur, PDF Malakand, All Disabled Organization Kohlu Baluchistan, Mazoor Welfare Association of the Blind Jacobabad, Thul Disability Forum Jacobabad, Disabled Right Development Jacobabad, PAB Noshero Feroz, Ghotki Disability Forum, Association of Special Person District Badin, Pakistan Eye Bank Society Dera Ghazi Khan, All Special Persons Welfare Association Khairpur, PAB Nawabshah, PAB Shikarpur, Sindh Disabled Welfare Organization Khairpur, Hyderabad Welfare Association of the Blind, Hyat Disabled Welfare Association Hangu, PAB Batagram, PAB Mansehra, PAB Sawabi, Blind PAB Mansehra, Light House School for the Blind Girls Abbotabad, PAB Karachi and Karachi Special Persons Association.
In continuation of training of disabled youth a two days all sindh disabled youth seminar at Badin , 14th and 15th February 2018, which was largely participated by the disabled youth and there leaders 15th districts of Interior of Sindh and disabled youth from Karachi as well.
Four health care lectures were arranged in PDF Quaid-e-azam academy for disabled themselves, local community and graduates of Department of Special education of University of Karachi regarding understanding and management of infections disease (Chiken Goniya and Dengue fever) after effects of Polio posture and is management after effects of lead poisoning and its management and, Heat-Related Illnesses and its management etc.
Like information technology PDF has also paid to the situation of road development most modern system of different transport lines like green line , orange line, Red line , which creating certain difficulties and problems for disabled persons to get access . As such 2 comprehensive meeting were arranging between disabled users of the services and transept management RBT. Which was highly appreciated and notable advancement in the attitude of government authority who are taking care in advance to get the facilities accessible.
By the grace of Al-Mighty Allah this year PDF has arranged training courses on existing software for the people with disability under information technology in different parts of country like Gilgit, Muzafarabad, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta and Karachi, where particularly disabled youth along with some seniors interested in using software’s were provided both theoretical and practical knowledge. This is also one of the landmarks in the history of Pakistan with special reference to the modern age technology.
The latest development under PDF that is starting of PDF Iqra Academy of inclusive education at Korangi is processing but slowly because of tuff situation and less awareness due to the low standard of people in the surrounding of the academy deserve special support .
